New Brunswick Campus Website

New Brunswick Campus Homepage Updates

  • Main images on the page: The four main rotating images on the homepage are refreshed annually, usually around August. These image are selected to compliment each other, illustrate and work with accompanying text, and should be treated as a set. Do not sub out one single image, but rather replace all four together.
  • The right-side feature area on the homepage of the Rutgers–New Brunswick site changes each week.
  • The features should emphasis information, stories, events, courses, and activities that would be of interest to currents students, the primary audience of the page and site.
  • We do not create original feature stories expressly for this feature area, instead look through stories on Rutgers.edu, the Magazine site, Rutgers Today, school sites, and other Rutgers–New Brunswick locations to find stories to post.
  • Post the TITLE and TEXT to appear in the feature area along with  the URL of the page to link to in the appropriate projtrack. Try to get this up at least by the Tuesday before it is slated to run.
  • Often times, the most difficult/time consuming part of putting together a feature is tracking down or creating an image to use, so try to give art enough time to come up with something.
  • Some features, such as "You've Got Questions", promoting RU-info, Rutgers Day, Commencement, Academic Advising, Libraries run at regular times throughout the year.
  • Planning the feature schedule a few weeks out and posting the details of those slated features on projtrak helps things run smoothly.

“What’s Happening” Area

You are responsible to come up with three events to list. All the entries should be from the New Brunswick Campuses and must be a mixed bag of science, research, art, and other topics of interest to New Brunswick students. The site must be kept current every day.

  1. Research the Calendar of Events to come up with a list of events. You should try to project out the list a week in advance.
  2. Note the event name, date, time, and URL for the additional information. Have the copy proofread if you think you need it checked.
  3. Save a copy of the future changes to the Share drive under creative services/NB Website Maintenance so someone can do the updates if you are out.
  4. Login to http://nb.rutgers.edu and make the edits.
  5. Once you publish the changes make sure you check the URLs so they are correct.
  6. Take a screen shot of the new change and save it as a .jpg for reference. The screen shot captures the NB feature that changes once a week and serves as an additional archive for this feature.
  7. Print a color copy of the screen shot and put it in the NB Event Listings binder for reference.
