Student Workers

Students download cards and follow the procedure for adding metadata, converting, and renaming photos.  (See Procedures for Downloading a Compact Flash Card Doc.)

Releases and all information about the shoot should be given to the student with the cards so that the appropriate information is in the metadata, WHO, WHAT, WHEN and WHERE, and job number. Specific key words if needed.

Students delete camera misfire files and move all tests shots to the testshot folder on Photostorage.

Students copy files over to Photostorage (Disk space on the canto server) and external back up drive.  Disc is burned and given to archivist.

Photographer works off of Photostorage and edits photos.  A folder named EDIT with the original file folder name (e.g. NR11SummerSession would have an edit folder named EDIT-Summer Session) is created and when finished, burned.   If applicable, "selects" are placed in the folder "For Canto" to be cataloged in Canto.

Only files that have COMPLETED metadata are to be added to the For Canto folder.
Photographer should delete files off of the server when job has been concluded or instruct archivist via email which files are safe to delete.

Should images from a shoot need to be delivered quickly and a student is not in the office to assist, the photographer should copy the files he needs from the card, process the files and deliver to client what is needed.  Cards should remain intact and given to student at the earliest point.  Photographer will notify archivist, which images were delivered and if any of the files were edited will place those files in a central place to be included on final disc.
