Project Information

This project consists of both print advertising and webpages. Creative Services creates revised reprints of the budget hearing ad for insertion into the Daily Targum (New Brunswick Campus), the Observer (Rutgers–Newark), and the Gleaner (Rutgers–Camden). 

Project management may involve the following general steps:

  • Confirm advertising costs and sizes with each newspaper.
  • Generally, in mid-February, provide the current prices for advertising to the Office of the Secretary, noting what was purchased in the previous year.
  • Ask strategic communications (Jessica DePaul) to help with placing the advertising with the newspapers. This means she will act act as the main contact with the media outlets, or the newspapers. Strategic Communications may be able to secure a discounted rate.
  • Confirm ad sizes with the secretary’s office.
  • Get Joanne's approval on the project budget, including the out-of-pocket proofreading and cost of the ads, via a memo of costs and copy of the ads. After approval, Kathy can request the PO. Note: At the end of the project, the Office of the Secretary reimburses University Relations for the cost of the adds along with any additional out-of-pocket costs.
  • Art completes the ads.
  • Based on who does the placements, i.e. Creative Services or Strategic Communications, email ads to the placer or the newspapers.
  • Be sure to ask the newspapers to send tear sheets (samples of the ads that ran in the newspaper), along with the invoice.

Technical notes

  • The main hearing webpage has temporary text. The previous year’s budget hearing text can be reinstated by going to revisions.
  • In addition, a webpage, comment and speaker sign-up forms and form submission confirmation pages were also updated.
  • This hearing page isn’t seen in the left-side navigation and is generally placed under the “Distinctions”  parent item.
