University Resources for Archived Print Catalogs

  • All university print catalogs are warehoused at Material Services (in Piscataway). Contact Pete Shergalis, Supervisor Material Services (848-445-5330; shergali@rci.rutgers.edu). Has one copy of each catalog that was in original archived collection.
  • University Archives and Special Collections at Alexander Library has two copies of all catalogs for all campuses and all schools (there are a few random gaps). The collection dates back to the 1830s. Contact Erika Gorder, Associate University Archivist and Permissions Coordinator (848-932-6150; gorder@rci.rutgers.edu). Useful place to send alum looking for course description in effect when they were here.
  • Newark undergraduate catalog collection (extensive) is maintained by the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs.
  • Dana Library in Newark has some Newark Campus catalogs at the reference desk and, more extensively, in their archives, dating from 1948.
  • Robeson Library in Camden has archives of the undergraduate (from 1984) and graduate schools’ catalogs.
  • Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences: Print archives of the catalogs are maintained in the George F. Smith Library of the Health Sciences.

Please note: there is no exact count of how many catalogs are at each site.
